We all wonder what if anything we can do when tragedy strikes in the world. It is especially hard when you aren’t from the area affected and you want to do something but you don’t live close enough to do something in person. The Orlando Modern Quilt Guild is collecting quilt blocks and quilts for the survivors and families of the victims who perished in the shooting at the Pulse nightclub on June 12th. Rainbow hearts are the design theme and they are asking for either 10″ blocks or finished quilts larger than 48″X60″ but no larger than a twin. The quilt blocks are needed by August 15th and completed quilts by September 15th. The goal is 102 quilts, one for each survivor and one for the families of each victim who perished. Any quilts over that number will be given to first-responders and then given to the LGBT community in Orlando.
If this is something you would like to participate in please go to the link below for ideas and more specific information.
I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support that has been coming our way it means a lot to the Orlando community that so many people care and are there for all those affected by this tragedy.
